Summer city walk: Bondi to Coogee

The sun is back! Beach time! The grumpy bus driver can’t even spoil my mood. Bondi beach, one of the most famous beaches Australia has to offer. Filled with people on a sunny day and close to a boulevard with plenty of refreshments. It is exactly what you see in the real life show Bondi rescue, only with less trained and fit bodies. Still, it is all about being seen.

Bondi beach is a must, but if you are looking for a less crowded and more relaxed place to go, take the walk down to Coogee. A good footpath takes you to several beaches along Sydney’s coast. No hiking boots required, for it is a relaxed and easy walk. People walk their dogs, jog or enjoy the pretty views along the 6km stretch.

After Bondi you’ll see Tamara beach, close to Bronte beach. Where Bondi had the hipsters, you are now in children’s paradise with a playground and saltwater pool attached. Then Clovelly beach caught my eye. The water comes inland and at the end there is a tiny beach. Last but not least is Coogee, the final destination.

The walk is pretty, and suitable for less active people as well. Getting a bit hot? Just dip into the water. The first part is super busy, but as you come closer to Coogee it gets less crowded and more relaxed. Coogee beach is a good place to end the day. There are some shops close to the beach and the bus can take you straight back to town.

  1. All the pictures are really beautiful. So, many gorgeous beaches at one post. 😀 My favorite is the last picture of the Coogee beach. 🙂

  2. Welcome to my home town! Hope you’ve enjoyed Australia. My heritage is Dutch so I seem to find myself drawn to Europe and Nederland in particular. You’ve picked some good spots to visit in Australia. regards Peet
