Tick, tick, tick, boom

Tick, tick, tick. I don’t even know what time it is! It’s more like: boom, another day flew by. Boom! Another week gone. And suddenly it’s February and I’m wondering what happened with January. The year is progressing at warp speed and once again it’s decision time. Three years ago I left my country to start an adventure. Since then I’ve had several chapters in Australia, spent almost a year in New Zealand and had some quick adventures in between. Now the time on my visa is ticking away, and the ticking’s getting louder every day.

One day last August I stumbled upon adds recruiting tour guides and I started googling for jobs like that. It didn’t take me long to find some and I started applying, more as a joke than seriously considering it. It is something I’ve been interested in for a while, but never thought I could do. I took a gamble and applied just to see how far I could get. I’d almost forgotten about it when I got an email that they wanted me in the second round. I thought I looked totally geeky in the videos I had to record for it, so was incredibly surprised when I made it to the interview stage. There were two rounds of interviews before I got a letter of acceptance. They wanted me!

Timing is everything and that letter came around the same time my relationship ended. I feel like my life is full of opportunities and possibilities again and I should make the most of it. So now I’m suddenly going to be a tour guide in Europe. It totally messes up my plan of travelling around New Zealand, but I put that on the list. Before I leave I’ll definitely finish what I started in the South Island, but the North will have to wait. I’m still waiting for details so I can finalize my plans, but at least I’ve looked into what I want to see here. Leaving New Zealand will be painful and I’m sure I’ll see it again.

I’m planning a 17 day trip. I’m planning for my return to Europe, wherever I’ll end up. I’m also looking way ahead and am planning for my visa for Canada. The applications open soon and according to things I’ve read online, they’ll close pretty soon after. Canada seems to be a popular choice, but there are only limited spots in the working holiday visa category. I’m dreaming again. I’m dreaming of foreign places. I’m dreaming of skiing. I’m dreaming of exploring. I’m dreaming of living the glamorous life in Europe. I’m dreaming and I’m actually making my dreams come true. 2015 is going to be a great year. Let the time tick!
